Prison Law Advice & Representation
Our prison law team is headed by Andrew Sperling, a founding member and former chair of the Association of Prison Lawyers.

Our team has a wealth of experience acting for prisoners over many years.

Whilst we specialise in the representation of indeterminate sentenced prisoners (IPPs and lifers), we also have expertise across the board.
We can:
-
help you secure your release from prison including your re-release if you have been recalled
-
help you if you are stuck in prison and do not know which way to turn
-
help you defend adjudications before the Independent Adjudicator
-
help you get compensation if your parole hearing has been delayed unreasonably
-
help you if something has gone wrong and you may have grounds for a judicial review claim
Cuts in legal aid have not affected our commitment to providing a great service to our clients.
The cuts have forced us to learn how to do things differently but, because we know what we are doing, have first-class systems in place and work hard for our clients, they stick with us.
Where legal aid is not available, we will let you know what we can do for you and how much it will cost.
We understand that some people have particular needs that need to be considered in order that they can receive the best quality service. We have expertise in representing people with learning disabilities and autism.
We understand that being in prison can be very tough and that you need expertise and experience from your lawyer.
We have very close links with highly experienced criminal lawyers at Tuckers. If you are facing criminal charges and have been recalled, you can rely on continuity of service between SL5 and Tuckers’ crime teams.
If you have any questions about your need for representations, please get in touch.
